How to Fix Windows 10/11 Kernel Security Check Failure Error (Tutorial)

We have discussed many errors that occur in Windows 10 and Windows 11. Another standard error that annoys the user is the kernel security check failure stop error or blue screen. This usually occurs on Windows 10/11. The main reason for this error to occur is due to the memory or driver incompatibility corruption or issues of the data system.

What is Windows 10/11 Kernel Security Check Failure?

If you are facing such a problem with your computer system, then you can try out a few things. See which one suits best for later proceed with the suggestions. These are as followed:

  1. You can install the latest update of windows that is available and then scan your computer system with the help of your anti-virus software. If you want to replace any corrupted files, then you can also run the system file checker. You should also see that your RAM, hard disk and other components of hardware are connected to the system properly.
  2. To make the problem go away, you can also boot in a safe or clean boot state. If it does not occur, then you will need to identify the offending driver or program and then uninstall it
  3. You can check for corrupt files by running the driver verifier manager. You can install and reinstall the drivers, or you can update them
  4. Windows 10/11 carry a tool by the name of memory disk for errors. This can be used for memory problems that include testing of RAM (random access memory) on your computer system. You can run it and see whether it throws up any issues
  5. For error, you can scan your hard disk. You need to type the following command in CMD to check disk on your system drive C and then hit the enter button:

Chkdsk /f C:

  1. If you are not able to login into your computer system, then you need to boot into advanced startup options and then open the elevated command prompt window. The process is explained in the following way:
  • In the first screen, you need to select troubleshoot
  • Then go to the advanced options
  • Then the command prompt
  • You can access the more advanced built-in windows tool very quickly using the CMD
  • If you want to directly access the advanced startup options when you are working on your Windows 10.
  • You can do so through the setting applications of windows 10 > update and security > recovery > advanced startup
  • Now click on the restart button
  • You need to type the following command to enable the legacy boot policy:

Bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy

  • Now you shall be able to log into your windows safe mode or desktop to carry out the troubleshooting mentioned above suggestions.

Fixing Windows 10/11 Kernel Security Check using System Diagnostics

  • If Windows 10/11 does not run correctly, then you need to go to the settings
  • Select advanced startup open and then go to see the advanced repair option menu
  • Tap on troubleshoot in the new window
  • Now go to the advanced options and then click on the startup settings
  • Then click on the restart button that is there in the lower right side of the screen
  • The OS must boot with the minimal requirements of the system
  • Now when your computer system has been booted, you need to move the mouse over to the right side of the window.
  • Left-click on the search feature there in the menu
  • Type cmd. In the search box
  • As an administrator launch the command prompt
  • You need to type the following command and press the enter button:

Sfc / scannow

  • Wait for the process of the scan to complete. Press exit to close the prompt and then hit the enter button
  • Now go to the upper side of the screen
  • Now go to the search feature
  • Here type memory and then select the windows memory diagnostic
  • You need to run this as an administrator and then select restart and check for problems
  • After the reboot, the OD shall check your RAM automatically and give reasons that why you are getting the blue screen of death error
  • Normally reboot your computer system

After following these steps, you need to see if the security checks failure BSOD error is there or not.

Try to undo any overclocking to your CPU

If somehow or by mistake, you have overclocked your computer system, then this could also be the reason for experiencing the kernel security check failure error. For this, you need to revert your computer system to the default configuration settings and then uninstall any overclocking. Then you are required to restart your PC to see if the problem exists or not.

Do a system restore

If the issue has just started, then you need to run the system restore. The tool helps you remove the recently added programs and applications if the item has just begun after you have installed new software on your computer system. The tool allows you to restore the last well-performing configuration without the fear to lose any file. However, you may lose a few customized features and settings. The best thing about Windows 10/11 is that it offers advanced recovery options which allow the users to clean install the operating system. You may also use the reset this PC recovery option.

For this follow the steps:

  • In the first step, you need to go to the settings
  • Then click on update and security
  • Now click on recovery that is there under the left pane
  • Click on the get started that is there under the reset PC option
  • Then click on choose to keep your files.
