February 15, 2025Senior Cybersecurity Engineer (Hybrid) August 20, 2025The importance of self-care cannot be overstated. Taking care of our physical, mental, and emotional well-being is crucial to living a happy and fulfilling life. Self-care can take many forms, from getting enough sleep and eating well to practicing mindfulness and setting boundaries with others. It is essential to prioritize self-care in order to maintain a healthy balance in our lives.<br /> <br /> One of the key aspects of self-care is listening to our bodies and recognizing when we need to rest or recharge. Pushing ourselves too hard can lead to burnout and physical or mental health issues. By taking the time to rest and relax when needed, we can prevent these negative consequences and improve our overall well-being.<br /> <br /> In addition to listening to our bodies, self-care also involves setting boundaries with others and learning to say no when necessary. It is important to prioritize our own needs and not overextend ourselves in order to please others. By setting boundaries and being assertive about our needs, we can protect our own well-being and maintain healthier relationships with those around us.<br /> <br /> Self-care is not a selfish act, but rather a necessary one in order to be able to show up fully for ourselves and others. By taking care of ourselves first, we are better equipped to handle the challenges and stresses of daily life. Making self-care a priority can lead to increased happiness, improved relationships, and a greater sense of overall well-being.<br /> <br /> In conclusion, self-care is an essential practice for maintaining a healthy and balanced life. By prioritizing our physical, mental, and emotional well-being, we can prevent burnout, improve our relationships, and live more fulfilling lives. It is important to listen to our bodies, set boundaries with others, and practice self-compassion in order to truly take care of ourselves. 3.2 VULNERABILITY OVERVIEW

3.2.1 INTEGER OVERFLOW OR WRAPAROUND CWE-190

In Wind River VxWorks, the memory allocator has a possible overflow in calculating the memory block’s size to be allocated by calloc(). As a result, the actual memory allocated is smaller than the buffer size specified by the arguments, leading to memory corruption.

CVE-2020-28895 has been assigned to this vulnerability. A CVSS v3 base score of 7.3 has been assigned; the CVSS vector string is (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:L).

3.2.2 INTEGER OVERFLOW OR WRAPAROUND CWE-190

In Wind River VxWorks, the memory allocator has a possible integer overflow in calculating a memory block’s size to be allocated by calloc(). As a result, the actual memory allocated is smaller than the buffer size specified by the arguments, leading to memory corruption.

3.4 RESEARCHER

Siemens reported these vulnerabilities to CISA.

4. MITIGATIONS

Siemens has released a new firmware version for SCALANCE X-200 and X-200 IRT switches that address “Bad Alloc” vulnerabilities in the underlying operating system and recommends updating to the latest versions. Siemens recommends countermeasures for products where updates are not, or not yet available:

As a general security measure, Siemens strongly recommends protecting network access to devices with appropriate mechanisms. To operate the devices in a protected IT environment, Siemens recommends configuring the environment according to Siemens’ operational guidelines for industrial security and to follow the recommendations in the product manuals. Additional information on industrial security by Siemens can be found on the Siemens Industrial Security web page.

For further inquiries on security vulnerabilities in Siemens products and solutions, users should contact the Siemens ProductCERT.

For more information, see the associated Siemens security advisory SSA-813746 in HTML and CSAF.

CISA recommends users take defensive measures to minimize the risk of exploitation of these vulnerabilities.

CISA reminds organizations to perform proper impact analysis and risk assessment prior to deploying defensive measures.

CISA also provides a section for control systems security recommended practices on the ICS webpage at cisa.gov/ics. Several CISA products detailing cyber defense best practices are available for reading and download, including Improving Industrial Control Systems Cybersecurity with Defense-in-Depth Strategies.

Additional mitigation guidance and recommended practices are publicly available on the ICS webpage at cisa.gov/ics in the technical information paper, ICS-TIP-12-146-01B–Targeted Cyber Intrusion Detection and Mitigation Strategies.

Organizations observing suspected malicious activity should follow established internal procedures and report findings to CISA for tracking and correlation against other incidents.

No known public exploits specifically target these vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities are exploitable remotely. These vulnerabilities have low attack complexity.
